Imphal, September 13: State police personnel conducted search and frisking operations at the main commercial areas of Thangal and Paona bazars today.

After rounding up several persons, mostly youths and quizzing them on the spot the police detained 18 persons for further interrogation/verification but were released later in the day.

Those rounded up from Thangal bazar area were assembled at Dharmashala while those from Paona Bazar areas were lined up at the tri-junction close to Kakhulong.

The Agriculture and Forest Department offices were also combed yesterday.
