Even as the popularity of 'Panthou' has been growing with more and more people pouring into his Wangkhei temple complex, one of his devotees has written a book on the 'living god-man'.
The book titled, 'Ehun-lak-khi Pukningda' (Caught in my mind) written by Yambem Ongbi Jayshree , a selection grade lecturer in a Government college, was released by Sobita Devi, Joint Secretary of Art and Culture Department, Government of Manipur in the presence of Panthou at his temple complex today.
Publication of the book has become about after a documentary film on him directed by noted film maker Oken Amakcham, one his devout disciples was screened at the 2nd Manipur international documentary, short and animation film festival in August last.
Hundreds of Panthou's devotees in their traditional worship attires, who attended the rare book releasing ceremony, kept a stoic silence when the miracle man stood up and blessed the author.
Later the disciples were showered with similar blessings.
Every first Thursday of a month is an auspicious day for the devotees of Panthou as they have the chance to seek his blessing and consult on social issues.
The devotees believe that Panthou (37) is the re-incarnation of Lord Pakhangba, the supreme deity of the Meitei and other communities in the State.
"I have travelled various worship places of the nation but this is the only place that gives me spiritual happiness, peace of mind'', said author Jayshree, a resident of Uripok Yambem Leikai in the heart of Imphal.
Jayshree is teaching Organic Chemistry in GP Women College, Imphal Wife of Yambem Laba, prominent journalist and former member of Manipur Human Rights Commission, Jayshree, said after becoming the devotee of Panthou in 2003, she has learnt the true value of humanism and the aesthetic charm of Manipuri culture and tradition from Panthou.
Jayshree, who got first class first in her master's degree exam in Organic Chemistry, said the value of life is seen through Panthou's philosophical preaching.
