AR organises tribute event, aids road repair

Headquarters, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) conducted a wreath-laying ceremony at Joupi on Saturday to honor havildar (GD) Luhit Gogoi.
According to PRO IGAR (S), on 15 June 2017 around 11:15am, two IED blasts occurred near Bungdung followed by heavy gunfire from insurgents.
A team consisting of one officer, one JCO, and 20 OR was returning from operational duties when the attack happened.
Despite being grievously injured by IED splinters, Havildar Gogoi displayed exemplary courage and continued to fight but ultimately succumbing to his wounds, making the supreme sacrifice for the nation.
In recognition of his bravery and dedication, "Gogoi Vatika" was established in the unit on 15 June 2020, the PRO added.
On the other hand, troopers of Assam Rifles joined hand with locals in restoring the road link joining the village Moulhoi-Songdo-T Chawangphai-Mongjang-Pholijang-Gothal-Phoisenbung-P Geljang-Thoroilok, which was rendered unusable due to heavy rains.
The 10 km road link was levelled and repaired by employing JCB, tractor and trolly under observation of mechanical transport team of Assam Rifles, the PRO informed.
