AR conducts tribute event, security meet

Assam Rifles organised a wreath laying ceremony for rifleman Dinesh Prasad of 4 Assam Rifles who gave supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
According to PRO IGAR (S), based on the available intelligence, security team conducted Operation Jaibajarang on the night of May 1, 1994 near Kultuk, Indo-Myanmar border.
However, around 12 noon of May 2, 1994, movement of insurgents were detected and ensuing fire fight started during which Dinesh Prasad sustained severe bullet wounds and succumbed to injuries.
He demonstrated remarkable bravery and dedication during the Operation, the PRO conveyed.
The Operation resulted in arrest of n ine cadres of NSCN (IM) and recovery of 1 kg of explosive with fuse and detonator.
Later, rifleman Dinesh Prasad was awarded Sena Medal (Posth u mous) for his gallantry action, the PRO informed.
During the tribute event, Assam Rifles honoured the brave heart by paying homage to his supreme sacrifice for the cause of the Nation disregarding his personal safety.
Two officers, six junior commissioned officers and 30 other ranks of Assam Rifles paid tribute by laying wreath and according guard of honour, the PRO conveyed.
On the other hand, Assam Rifles conducted a security coordination meet along with Army and CAPF representatives at Songdo village in Churachandpur district on Wednesday.
Village chiefs from Moulhoi, Songdo, T Chawangphai, Mongjang, Pholijang, Old Gothal, New Gothal, Phoisenbung, P Geljang and Trilok attended the meet, the PRO added.
