Imphal, November 27 2024:
Assam Rifles distributed essential household items at the office of All Tribe Women Organisation (ATWO), Nungourok village, in Kakching district on Wednesday.
The event was attended by over 40 women, primarily engaged in various community welfare activities.
As part of its efforts to uplift vulnerable groups, Assam Rifles provided vital supplies to women working at ATWO, which actively empowers women through skill development programmes, as assistance to women who have faced significant hardships, including victims of violence and widows, by providing them with opportunities to gain skills for sustainable livelihoods, said a PRO IGAR (S) release.
On the other-hand, troops of Assam Rifles swiftly responded to a fire incident in a residential area near Mantripukhri, Imphal West district, on Tuesday, preventing a potential disaster.
The incident was first identified around 5 pm when a sentry observed flames emanating from a house approximately 200 metres from the post.
The sentry immediately raised an alert, prompting the battalion to deploy its firefighting team without delay.
Their swift intervention and effective fire-control measures successfully contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading to adjacent structures, said the PRO in another release.
The Manipur Fire Brigade and State Police arrived shortly after, assisting in securing the area and ensuring the situation was fully contained.
No casualties were reported, and significant property damage was averted, the release added.
