Assam Rifles organised a lecture on 'Women Empowerment' at Haochong village in Noney district to mark the Women's Equality Day on Monday.
The lecture aimed at bridging the social, economic, and political gap between men and women through discussion on topics such as gender equality, confidence building, self-esteem, and women legal rights and entitlements was attended by 23 women and four village elders.
On the other hand, Indian Army observed Women's Equality Day at D Monaphai village in Moreh, Tengnoupal district, Cornerstone School, Chingmang and at Leimakhong in Kangpokpi district on Monday.
As per a release, in Moreh, the event was organised at D Monaphai community hall during which the participants were made aware of importance of the day.
An interactive session was also conducted wherein women shared their inspirational experience apart from a motivational lecture to encourage young girls pursue career in Armed Forces.
The programme at Cornerstone School began with screening of a motivational movie that showcased the struggles and triumphs of women breaking barriers in the society, followed by a lecture, focussing on gender equality, the role Of Women in shaping the society and encouraging women to take up a career in Armed Forces and serve the nation.
Thereafter, girl students shared their tribute through poems, article, essay and motivational talks.
The event concluded with felicitation of outstanding girl students and participants of the programme.
