Imagi Meira reiterates demand for emergency session

Imagi Meira has reiterated its demands to chief minister N Biren for initiating action against the 10 Kuki MLAs and convening an emergency session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly to discuss the current crisis in the state and work out a solution.
Addressing the media at Manipur Press Club, here, on Thursday, Imagi Meira convenor Thokchom Sujata said that they tried to meet the speaker and officials of the state assembly on Tuesday but in vain.
They were given an appointment for 11 am on the next day, during which, the speaker assured of convening a meeting of the Privilege and Ethics Committee before February 14 and convene an assembly session soon.
Consequently, they met members of the committee, who assured of attending the meeting without fail.
She further said that they also met BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda and pressed for taking punitive action against the BJP MLAs, who are demanding separate administration.
In response, Sharda informed them about a report submitted by the state unit to central leaders of the party in this regard in May lastyear.
Sharda also told them that she will meet the central leaders on February 14 and bring up the matter, Sujata added.
