Bomb attack at Jiribam security check-post

Jiribam, May 03 2024:
Unidentified miscreants attacked a security check post at Leingangpokpi area of Jiribam district along NH 37 with bombs on Thursday around 11 pm.
Source said that police personnel posted at the check-post were cheeking a vehicle on the highway when two bombs exploded simultaneously at a distance of about 20 feet from the check post on Jiribam side of the highway.
On the opposite side of the highway are Kuki villages of Tamenglong district.
Though the type of explosives used could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report, police suspect that they could be crude bombs, possibly hurled/fired from Phaital village of Kuki community from the other side of the highway.
Shortly after the two bombs went off, another sound of blast was also heard on the Phaital village side.
Joint team of 39 Assam Rifles, Jiribam district police and Tamenglong district police launched a search operation but no arrests were made.
A case has been registered in this regard.
Mention may be made that the same check-post was targeted by unidentified gunmen using bombs and firearms few months back.
