Uripok hunger strike completes 12 days

The relay hunger strike organised by Uripok Apunba Lup and Uripok Nupi Apunba Lup at Uripok Canteen Crossing, demanding the arrest of those involved in the abduction and killing of three women and three children in Jiribam, completed the 12th day on Wednesday.
According to a statement issued by Uripok Apunba Lup secretary Chingthang Nambam, the hunger strike will continue till the arrest and punishment of the abductors and murderers.
While commending registration of the case by the NIA, the Lup lamented that the government is yet to arrest the killers and appealed to authorities concerned to round up perpetrators of the heinous crime and award them befitting punishment.
Members of clubs and meira paibi groups of Lamboi Khongnangkhong staged the hunger strike from 8 am to 12 noon, while those from Langol Ningthou took over from 12 noon to 6 pm on Wednesday, followed by members of Langol Aying Leikai organisations from 6 pm to 6 am Thursday, the statement added.
