Lamlai denizens deprived NFSA rice: Cong

Imphal, May 14 2023: Although the quota of rice for Lamlai assembly constituency under NFSA has been lifted from the government warehouse by authorised agents, people of Lamlai are deprived of the essential item since the beginning of 2023, alleged Lamlai Block Congress Com-mittee general secretary or-ganisation Kshetrimayum Imo.

Addressing media persons at Lamlai on Sunday, Imo said that the matter came to light after the locals of Lamlai informed the block commit-tee during an inspection visit to various Lamlai localities to take stock of situation in the aftermath of the communal violence which hit the state.

During their visit, the team was informed that rice under NFSA has not been distributed to them (locals of Lamlai) since the beginning of 2023.When the Lamlai block Congress Committee approached authority con-cerned to check the status of the NFSA rice in respect of Lamlai assembly constit-uency, it was found that the quota had already been lifted but not made available to the public.

It seems that a gang is operating in Lamlai to loot the people's rice allotted under NFSA, he said.

The general secretary then appealed to the authority concerned to look into the matter and distribute NFSA rice to the people of Lamlai at the earliest failing which there might be intense agi-tations by the public.
