Govt urged to regularise cooperative marketing body

Imphal, August 26 2024: Manipur Apex Cooperative Marketing Society Limited Core Committee chairman S Nilkamal has urged authority concerned to regularise the Society.

Briefing the media at Manipur Press Club, here, on Monday, Nilkamal raised suspicions that some unscrupulous people are trying to dissolve the apex society.

He said that if the cooperative movement in the state thrives, then the economic conditions will improve and as such, there is a need to develop apex marketing body, all of which interlink with the development of all sectors of the state.

However, the body is now like without an owner and as such, he urged the authority concerned to regularise the same at the earliest.

Recounting repeated requests made for regularisation of the apex society, he urged for holding the mandated election as soon as possible so that it could help improve the economy of the state.

Suggesting that the department be led by trained leaders, he lamented that the corporation share for Manipur compared to other states is almost negligible due to the absence of competent and capable leaders.

Thus, he requested for holding the election and appointing a new chairman of the apex society, while reiterating that Manipur cannot develop without the cooperative sector.
