Imphal, December 28 2014:
It was Congress party's 60 years rule which brought India to its present socio-economic condition apart from propelling the country to the status of a regional super power, claimed Chief Minister O Ibobi.
Speaking at the 129th foundation day of Indian National Congress at Congress Bhavan here today, Ibobi maintained that detractors and critics may deride individuals (Congress leaders) but no one should blame Congress party.
It would sound absurd when people who have extracted maximum benefits from Congress party turn their tirade against the party, Ibobi stated.
People of Manipur need not be disheartened just because there is no Congress Government at the Centre rather people should keep a close tab on the performance of the BJP Government at the Centre.
He called upon Government leaders as well as party workers to do their duties well in close contact with the people.

Ibobi also appealed to all Congress MLAs and supporters to ensure that the party continues to enjoy its present dominant position at the time of the next Assembly election and beyond.
Regardless of the fact that there is a BJP-led Government at the Centre, the State would take its full share of funds and other allocations.
The State need not beg from the Centre.
Ibobi then appealed to all the Ministers to work for the welfare of people with the State's share of funds.
MPCC president Gaikhangam asserted that BJP is a political party which is addicted to day dreaming.
All the Congress MLAs still stand united and none of them would like to join BJP which does not have a single MLA.
BJP would not be able to find one candidate to fight Lok Sabha election in 2019, claimed the Deputy Chief Minister.
The BJP Government at the Centre would not last more than five years.
The incumbent Central Government is not a Government of any political party.
It is a Government of some select individuals.
Fissures and dissent have already erupted within the BJP-led Government which is not even one year old.
It would not be long before the Central Government crumbles under its own weight, Gaikhangam asserted.
By electing BJP to power, citizens of the country were giving time to Congress party to bridge the disconnect between the party and the public.
Congress would return to power at the Centre after five years.
No political party has the capacity to de-stabilise Congress but all Congress leaders and workers need to work sincerely to plug all types of gaps between the party and the public, Gaikhangam added.
