The tri-partite Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact involving the Union Government, State Government and Kuki UG groups which expires tomorrow has been extended by 45 days.
The Centre and the State Government have also put forward a condition that all weapons should be deposited at the designated camps by September 20 .
The decision to extend the SoO pact was adopted during a joint meeting held at New Delhi today under the aegis of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary DS Poonia, MHA Joint Secretary Naveen Verma, Commissioner V Vumlumang, IG (Intelligence) MS Khaute, representatives of KNO and UPF.

The SoO pact signed on August 21, 2008 has been extended annually since then.
During the tripartite talk today, representatives of the Union and State Governments asked the underground groups under the SoO pact to finish construction work of their designated camps by September and to deposit their weapons together inside a double lock system.
The Government representatives further directed the UG groups not to violate ground rules.
