Imphal Bench of the Gauhati High Court today directed Manipur University to allow a candidate to part in the interview for appointment of a lecturer of physics.
The candidate had not been called to the interview.
The court also ordered the MU authority not to declare the result of the interview without the consent of the court, a ruling given by Justice Mutum Binoykumar said today.
The court has given the directive in a hearing to a writ petition filed by one Irom Babalu Meetei, a lecturer of physics at the Pettigrew College, Ukhrul through his counsel M Devananda against the authorities of the Manipur University, Secretary of University Grant Commission and Secretary of the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development.
The court served a show cause notice to the respondents to give reasons why the applicant should not be allowed to face the interview even though he is qualified to apply for the post.
The interview of the appointment of the physics lecturer is to be held on August 29 next.
The MU authority advertised for a lecturer in the department of physics, MU on January 23, 2008 .
Babalu had applied for the post.
But when the interview date was fixed on August 29 next after a two year gap since the advertisement, he was not to called for the interview.
After examining the documents related with the qualification and the process of his application and after hearing the arguments of both sides, the court directed the MU authority to allow him to take part in the interview and not to declare the result of the same without the consent of the court.
Meanwhile, in another case, the court also served a show cause notice to the MU authority regarding the non-appointment of a regular registrar returnable within four weeks time.
The direction of the court was given in response to a hearing to another writ petition filed by one Dr K Jugindro, head of department of physics of the university through his counsel, advocate M Devananda.
