Imphal, September 02 2012:
Manipur police have been carrying on with their drive against illegal migrants, particularly Bangladeshis and Myanmarese.
This ongoing drive assumes greater significance as the Union Home Ministry has already furnished a report to the State Government informing that around 500 illegal migrants from Myanmar and Bangladesh entered Manipur recently.
A reliable source informed The Sangai Express that the Home Ministry's report clearly mentioned the districts, localities, addresses and rented rooms/houses where the illegal migrants have been staying.
So far, State police have rounded up 43 illegal Myanmarese and Bangladeshi migrants and due process for their deportation has been already initiated.

Even as the hunt for illegal migrants has been continuing in different parts of the State, around 40 non local people who were trying to enter Manipur were made to turn back from Jiribam as they did not possess valid or complete documents.
Till September 1, police had pushed back around 100 migrants without proper documents at Jiribam.
So far, not a single Bangladeshi migrant fleeing from the recent violence in Assam has been detected.
Over 90 people have died in the clash between indigenous Bodos and Bangladeshi migrants in Assam in the recent violence.
