Thoubal, August 26 2024:
With rising floodwaters forcing people out of their homes, Thoubal district administration has established 11 relief camps where over 1000 individuals affected by the floods are currently taking shelter, informed DC Ahanthem Subash.
Addressing the media at his office in the Thoubal DC complex, Ahanthem Subash stated that the incessant rainfall has caused widespread flooding across Thoubal district, severely affecting areas such as Tekcham, Tentha, Samaram, Sangaiyumpham, Khangabok, Leishangthem, Khelakhong, Uchiwa, Haiyel, and Lilong Chingkham.
The rising floodwaters have displaced many residents, prompting the district administration to open relief camps to support the affected individuals.
He also reported that the District Administration has been supplying relief materials, including food, to the camps and has conducted medical camps there since Sunday, with plans for more such initiatives in other locations.
Expressing concern, the MLA also noted the severe impact of the floods on paddy fields and fish farms, which has caused significant hardship for farmers and said that the district administration is working to provide compensation to the affected farmers in line with state government regulations.
