NSPM observes Nepali Language Day

Nepali Sahitya Parishad Manipur (NSPM) observed the 33rd Nepali Language Day/Nepali Bhasa Diwas at Kanglatongbi community hall.
In a release, NSPM general secretary Deepak Pantha informed that the observance was attended by retired professor Dr Tankanath Khatiwoda, NSPM president & Sahitya Akademi awardee Bhawani Adhikari and All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union (AMGSU) president LB Adhikari as chief guest, functional president and guest of honour respectively.
The event was also participated by representatives of different social organisation such as Manipur Gorkha Welfare Union, AMGSU, Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh, Nepali Sanskriti Suraksha Parishad Manipur, Manipur Gorkha Ex-servicemen Association, Kanglatongbi Gram Panchayat ex-members, youth clubs, women societies, well-wishers and public.
NSPM also mentioned that every year it observes August 20 as Nepali Language Day as on this very day in 1992, Nepali, Manipuri and Konkani languages were included in the Eighth Schedule of Indian Constitution.
The programme was marked by poetry recitation by Sahitya Akademi awardee Suraj Chapagain, Devi Prasad Thapa, Santanu Kumar Limbu and Subash Limbu and felicitation of meritorious Gorkha students who scored the highest CGPA in the HSLC exam conducted by BSEM and top marks in HSE of COHSEM in Nepali MIL and Sanskrit subjects, it said.
