Govt distributes allowances for candidates to DCs

Imphal, June 15 2024:
In compliance with the orders of the Supreme Court, the allowances of candidates who appeared in the UPSC-CSE 2024 have been deposited with the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) concerned.
According to a notice sent by joint secretary (Home) to the DCs of Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Senapati, Chandel, Tengnoupal and Pherzawl districts on June 14, as per the apex court's directive regarding award of allowances to candidates from hill districts of Manipur who sat for the UPSC-CSE 2024 outside the state, around Rs 9000 for three days (Rs 3000 per day) for each candidate have been deposited in the bank accounts of the DCs concerned, The DCs have been instructed to transferred the allowances into the respective bank accounts of the candidates, as per the candidates' list.
Prior to depositing the allowances into the bank accounts of the candidates, the DCs, as per the SC, must verify that the candidate is domicile in Manipur, currently residing in the hill districts and had left to appear for the exam at a centre designated outside the state.
In addition, the details of the candidates who have received the allowances must be submitted to the Home Department by June 21 .
Furthermore, details of any candidate not receiving the allowance due to failure of fulfilling the directives of the SC must be submitted and the money refunded to the government, the notice said.
