RIMS conducts fire safety mock drill

A four-day-long Fire Safety Mock Drill and Fire Extinguisher Demonstration conducted by RIMS Fire Safety Committee in front of the new microbiology department concluded on Saturday.
According to a press release from RIMS, at the occasion, RIMS director Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma highlighted the critical need for understanding fire safety equipment and emergency response protocols.
The mock drill offered participants detailed guidance on self-rescue, aiding others, managing emergency situations, and providing first aid.
Such exercises are essential to equip individuals with the skills necessary to respond efficiently to fire emergencies, ensuring the protection of both lives and property, he added.
Manipur Fire Service sub-officer Kh Surachandra Singh led a session on fire protection and safety measures, including adoption of a fire safety plan.
The mock drill also featured practical demonstrations on fire extinguishing techniques.
The release further mentioned that the event was attended by several dignitaries and staff members, including RIMS Hospital medical superintendent Prof N Sanjib Singh; deputy director (administration) RK Mecolt Singh; dean (academic) Prof Brogen Singh Akoijam; sub-dean Prof Th Meera Devi; department heads; CAO/FA S Sarat Singh; SAP 2024-25/Kaya Kalp nodal officer Prof Y Govindaraj Singh; along with doctors, faculty, staff, and students from MSS, RIMS, Imphal.
The drill, held in collaboration with Manipur Fire Service, was designed to enhance fire safety awareness and preparedness among participants, it added.
