IMFL worth ₹80 lakhs destroyed

Nongpok Sanjenbam Apunba Meira Paibi Lup along with Meira Paibi of Khurai, Top Moirangkampu, Takhel seized and destroyed Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth around Rs 80 lakhs on Friday.
Upon receiving reliable information, Nongpok Sanjenbam Apunba Meira Lup members stopped and checked a Tata truck bearing registration number AS23 BC 6392 passing through Nongpok Sanjenbam under Lamlai police station at around 4 pm.
On checking the vehicle, a hidden stash of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth around Rs 80 lakhs in local market was found concealed behind a row of salt bags.
Amid the melee; the driver of the truck escaped leaving the vehicle.
Hearing the news about the seizure of IMFL, Meira Paibi members from neighbouring villages such as Khurai, Top Moirangkampu and Takhel came at the area and jointly destroyed the liquors and buried it in a pit at Nongmaijing Chingkhong.
The truck was handed over to Lamlai police station in order to find out the owner of the vehicle and to take up further legal actions.
