45,678 eligible to vote in Chandel: DEO

In the lone assembly segment of Chandel district falling under Outer Manipur parliamentary-constituency, a total of 45,678 voters including 23,930 female voters will be eligible to exercise their franchise rights in the 18th Lok Sabha election.
According to Chandel district election officer (DEO) Mayanglambam Rajkumar, preparations for the 18th Lok Sabha election in the district have been completed for the lone assembly segment which will go to the polls on April 26 .
He said that third round training for polling personnel, security personnel and sector officers has been completed while micro-observers too had been given training and final briefing for the polls.
The district will have 20 sector officers and 54 micro-observers will look after 54 polling stations in the district.
Briefing media persons about the preparations on Tuesday at his office chamber, DEO Rajkumar said that there are a total of 80 polling stations with 20 of them to be manned by only women while one will.be model polling station.
Vehicles requisitioned for transportation of polling personnel have started reporting and polling personnel for 25 polling stations located in far off New Samtal area will be despatched from Wednesday.
According to the DEO, a total of 11 companies of CAPF will be utilised and 10 of them will be sent for poll duty and one company will guard the strong room.
The district is also utilising seven companies of state force.
Even though no airlifting would be required in the district, five helipads have been prepared for emergency at Chandel, Joupi, Yangoulen, Sajik Tarnpak and Old Samtal, he added.
