Meinam Avi punished for extortion: PREPAK

Imphal, September 07 2024: Owning responsibility for the shooting on the leg of Meinam Avi Singh at Wangoo on Friday, the proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) said that Avi was awarded punishment for extorting money from public in the name of the outfit.

According to a statement of PREPAK issued by its publicity officer Mangal Khuman, entire people of Kangleipak (Manipur) are suffering since the launch of ethnic cleansing and genocide programme by.

Kuki narco-terrorists from May 3, 2023 and their programme intensified in the past few days with use of highly sophisticated weapons and modern warfare technology like weaponised drones and rockets.

Amidst the escalating tension and suffering, some people posed themselves as patriotic and extort money from public and this illegal practice is being carried out throughout Kangleipak at present.

Among such people was Meinam Avi Singh, 40, son of Manigopat and Nolini of Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai, Imphal and he used outfit's (PREPAK) name repeatedly in extorting money from public.

After thorough investigation and constant monitoring of his illegal activities, the outfit's Special Task Force 1 picked up Meinam Avi Singh from a place in Imphal West district on September 5 and took custody for questioning.

During questioning, Meinam Avi Singh confessed to collecting money from public in the name of the outfit repeatedly and accordingly he was given punishment by shooting on his right leg on Friday somewhere in Bishnupur district, the PREPAK statement and asked all the colleagues of Avi whose names and addresses are with the Special Task Force 1 to surrender within five days.

On the other hand, the PREPAK statement appealed to public not to entertain any monetary help without the outfit's letter head signed by revenue chief Changkhonba Meitei of the department of finance.
