Imphal, August 20 2024: Unidentified armed men fired at-least five rounds at the Lairenjam Awang Leikai residence of Kamakhya Pemton (KP) College, Hiyangthang principal Dr Wahengbam Nimai under Nambol police station in Bishnupur district on Tuesday around 5 pm.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

In the CCTV footage, two masked men could be seen arriving on a scooter and firing the shots, which struck the door of the house.

Bishnupur district commando and a team of Nambol Police Station conducted site assessment and recovered five casings from near the gate.

A case has been registered at Nambol police station for further investigation.

Meanwhile, Young Social Makers Club, Lairenjam advisor Khoisnam Anil said Tuesday's incident was the attack at Dr Nimai's residence in recent months.

On July 17, unidentified persons also placed a bomb at Dr Nimai's residence, he recounted while expressing deep concern over repeated attacks along with pointing out that there are elderly neighbours with health issues.

As such, the advisor urged those involved to refrain from indulging in such acts in residential areas and called for resolving conflicts through dialogue rather than resorting to violence.
