Sit-in decries abduction of three persons

Bishnupur, August 26 2024:
Yumnam Khunou Meira Paibi Lup organised sit-in protest at Yumnam Khunou Rural Haat on Monday denouncing abduction of three persons, including a salesman, and demanding their unconditional release.
The protesters informed that on August 24, three employees of Shiva Machineries, a shop at Nagamapal which deals in sale of parts of excavators, including one Loitongbam Haridash (26) son of L Manikuma'r of Yumnam Khunou along with a Meetei from Kumbi and a Naga from Tamenglong were taken captive by unidentified persons.
The Naga was Released but whereabouts of the two Meeteis remain unknown.
Speaking at the protest site, mother of Haridash informed that he works at the shop as security to sustain their family and urged to release her son safely and condone him even if he had done any wrong.
Another protester, meanwhile, condemned intimidation to innocent workers, who are trying to sustain their families, and appealed all concerned to refrain from issuing bomb threats.
She further urged for releasing the kidnapped employees and hand them over safely to their parents.
The protesters held placards inscribed with slogans like 'Stop using workers as tool' and 'We condemn kidnapping of innocent people' among others.
