Imphal, June 15 2024:
Claiming that the Unified Command is responsible for controlling security forces that are allegedly supporting Kuki militants instead of suppressing their violent activities, Federation of Haomee (FoH) has questioned why the state government is incapable of replacing the Unified Command officials even after they have failed to contain the situation after more than one year and whether they are above the state government.
In a press release, FoH general secretary Y Shyam Khuman posed whether legislature is under the control of Unified Command and why has the repeated demands of the public for handing over the command of Unified Command to the chief minister has remained unheard.
The government should clarify the matter to the public, it added.
FoH also mentioned that the ongoing crisis should be faced unitedly by people who are truly patriotic and want to protect the integrity of the state.
But the people in-charge of the government have failed to listen to the public's demand.
They should know if this ship sinks then all of us would sink together, it added.
FoH also emphasised that reactive nature of SFs against the attacks by Kuki militants shows that the security system in place has failed.
Can the people of Manipur continue to trust the Union government which has totally ignored the state's crises despite knowing that its conduct may create dissatisfaction among state's denizens.
The centre and state governments should realise the people's wishes and implement it immediately, otherwise it will'alienate the public from the government, it further stressed.
