CorCom puts blame on India's policy for riots
Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, May 13 2023: Two points always accompany while discussing the issue of unity and integrity of Mani-pur (Kangleipak).

The first is to keep intact the territorial integrity of Manipur (Kanglei-pak) and the second make ef-forts to maintain harmony and co-existence among different communities.

If any one of the two points happens to be af-fected, it is natural to consider that integrity and unity has been affected.

In the colonial point of view, land refers to money or commodity which could be utilised in profitable trading but it is mother/father for the indigenes.

The valley, hills, rivers, wetlands, forests and trees of Manipur (Kan-gleipak) as a living story have been part and parcel of peo-ple of the land and relying on these resources for livelihood for quite a long time.

Accord-ingly, no community of the land shall try to break apart the motherland or ever think to do so and in case of any deviation will be considered as foreigners.

If foreigners happen to accumulate and destroy indigenous resources, then every possible means must be utilised to defend the same.

Even the mighty Brit-ish who were much powerful than India begged for mercy in front of Kangla and both the hills and valley people have been jointly fighting against any challenges posed to Manipur (Kangleipak).

Be it the British or India, people of the land have been fighting colonial policy/strategy till date.

Though some among hill-valley people of the pres-ent generation might be un-aware of it, they will definitely acknowledge it someday, the CorCom said.

According to the CorCom, there cannot be movement for a single community in a land inhabited by numerous ethnic communities and such move-ment should not be based on a single religion too.

While citing extinction of LTTE as an example, CorCom said there cannot be violence by one community against an-other.

In simple word, there cannot be movement for a single community based on one religion and killing people without any basis.

Hill broth-ers blamed Meetei in the past for calling them untouchable after the latter converted to Hindu but sisters of the hills are now being fed directly by Meetei Bamon during Ningol Chakkouba festival.

Apart from this, many sisters from the hills are sincerely joining Ningol Chakkouba festival at Meetei families while Meetei mothers and sisters are joining the sacred Tingkao Ragwang celebra-tion in meaningful manner.

The living story of Tangkhul Nurabi in Lai Haraoba and Meetei community's love for hill people shown during Mera Hou Chongba are unstoppa-ble answers to existence of united history of Manipur (Kangleipak).

Whatever dis-contents or shortcoming the hill people raised should be brought towards collective understanding as integrity and unity brought through such understanding will be permanent, the CorCom added.

Before the birth of India, Manipur (Kangleipak) ex-isted as a sovereign nation with more than 2000 years of written history.

However, some people from the hills emerged with a belief having the agenda of forming a state by clubbing together some villages despite fully knowing smallness of the land.

The his-tory of Manipur (Kangleipak) was a part of the fragment of the global history in the 20th century and figured in the civilisation of South East Asia.

Today, there are around 90 countries in the world which are quite similar to Manipur (Kangleipak) in population or geographical size.

The geographical size of Israel, a powerful country in the Middle East, is smaller than Manipur (Kangleipak) while the population of Esto-nia, which got independence from the Soviet Union, is also less than Manipur.

No one from Manipur (Kan-gleipak) opposes or suppress-es attempts made by any tribe to sneak out of tribalism and join national process through the right mechanism, the CorCom said adding that it would be impossible to alter the path of past history of the land as collective histo-ry of Manipur (Kangleipak) lies in the hands of 39 ethnic communities of the land.

It is not the responsibility of one or two communities to give answers to queries raised in connection with the present situation and it is bounden responsibility of all the 39 communities to give the an-swers.

In its more than 2000 years of history, major com-munities of Manipur (Kan-gleipak) namely Meetei, Naga, Kuki and Meetei Pangal along with smaller communities shouldered the responsibility of protecting boundary of the nation and the same is be-ing shouldered till today and would continue in future too, CorCom maintained.

In fact, the present un-wanted incident has no rea-sons to happen.

However, the incident happened as some among the people were unable to identify the enemy and who their real brothers and sisters are.

Apart form this, they also considered India as their friend and indige-nous brothers and sisters as their enemy.

India is adopting various strategies to suppress sovereignty movement in Manipur (Kangleipak) and communal conflict is one of their most useful and prof-itable strategies.

India uti-lises all its thoughts, forces, weapons, strength and energy in waging the war success-fully through this strategy.

Trapped in this strategy of In-dia, there had been Naga-Ku-ki, Meetei-Meetei Pangal and Kuki-Paite clashes in the past and wounds of those clash-es are yet to be completely healed till date.

There will no winner of conflict among brothers and it would rath-er bring shame for Manipur (Kangleipak) before the global people, the CorCom said and stressed the need for taking up actions in accordance with who suffered the loss.

The outfit also said that suppress-ing the present unrest using the strength of government security forces cannot be the solution or the enemy will never work towards nego-tiation or bringing solution, which has to be brought by indigenes only through dia-logue and deliberation.
