Touching on the theme of the programme, "Honouring Our Ancestors," the MSU president stated that transmission of history through traditional practices such as folklores, folksongs, and dances helps ensure their continuity for future generations.
A representative from the Mao Officers Union remarked that the loss of one's cultural heritage would be akin to the loss of one's identity.
He called on the youth to embrace their cultural roots and act as agents of positive change within society, urging them to appreciate and uplift one another.
Stressing the oral transmission of traditions by forefathers, the speaker also underscored the need for proper documentation to safeguard cultural knowledge for posterity.
Athikho Joseph, president Mao Council, expressed pride in the rich cultural legacy inherited from the ancestors, whom he described as the original architects of the community's heritage.
Acknowledging the challenges of modern life, he encouraged the youth to confront difficulties with resilience and to channel their talents constructively to avoid straying from their goals.
He reaffirmed the Council's commitment to supporting the youth in their journey towards personal growth and excellence.
The day also featured competitions in traditional activities such as horn blowing, howling, Khetsii Kakhe and others.
The evening session featured a vibrant musical night attended by student leaders from various apex student organisations.
