'Mangani Leihun' of Khundrakpan Athouba held

Jiribam, November 27 2024: The 'Mangani Leihun' ritual for Khundrakpam Athouba - who was killed in firing by Manipur Police Special Commando (Combat) SSP Nectar Sanjenbam - took place on Wednesday, accompanied by a public rally.

A large number of students and local residents gathered at the KSA Jiribam District Council office in Babupara, Jiribam for the ritual, marked by offering of floral tributes, and observance of a two-minute silence in honour Athouba and to pray for peaceful repose of his soul.

Speaking to reporters, KSA Jiribam District Council president Kh Somorjit informed that the 'Mangani Leihun' ritual for Athouba coincided with the 19th foundation day of KSA.

As a result, instead of celebrating the foundation day, procession and floral tributes were held in his memory .

The day will be observed as "Lei Katpa" not only in Jiribam but across the state, he said.

Later, a mass procession was carried out, with participants carrying a photo of Athouba and marching from the KSA office to his residence at Sorok Atingbi Kamranga.
