Ukhrul, August 03 2025:
Thousands of people, many in vibrant traditional attire, took to the streets of Ukhrul district headquarters on Sunday to mark the '2015 Framework Agreement Day', exerting pressure on the Government of India to swiftly resolve the long-standing Naga political issue.
The commemoration, organised by collective Tangkhul Frontal Organisations under the banner of the Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR), marked the 10th anniversary of the historic Framework Agreement signed between the Government of India and the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah) - NSCN (IM) - on August 3, 2015 .
The rally began from two distinct points of Dungrei Junction and Mission Ground within Ukhrul town before converging at the Headquarters Ground.

As participants moved through the thoroughfare, they chanted slogans such as, "We are one people.
One history.
One voice.
One future.
The hills of Nagalim have spoken - no more silence, no-more delay" .
The participants also held Naga flags and banners, demanding an early and honourable solution to the political impasse based on the principles of the Framework Agreement.
On the commemorative day, the slogan "The time to wait is over.
The time to rise is now", was widely echoed in the background of the continued delay in resolving the political issue despite the FA having been signed 10 years ago.
Later, a public gathering was held at the Headquarters Ground, where Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) president Sword Vashum ceremonially hoisted the Naga flag, symbolising the community's aspirations.
WTR (NSCN/GPRN), secretary Athot Ngashangva delivered the presidential address reaffirming the Nagas' unwavering stand on the Framework Agreement.
Addressing the gathering, WTR CAO Capt.
(Retd.) Samson Jajo recounted the significant sacrifices made by the NSCN-IM leadership throughout the peace process.
He stated that the Framework Agreement was not a unilateral concession from one side but rather an "honourable understanding between two entitiesIndia and the Naga nation".
The Framework Agreement fundamentally represents a recognition of Naga history, identity, and their inherent political right to coexist as a distinct people," Jajo noted, and appealed for the continued public support, fervent prayers, and vigilance against any tactics from the Centre that might lead to further delays in the resolution process.
Translated copies of the Framework Agreement in the local Tangkhul dialect were also widely distributed to ensure greater public understanding of its contents and implications.
