Imphal, August 03 2015:
Kuki Inpi Manipur and Kuki Students' Organisation, general headquarters have urged the chief minister Okram Ibobi to airdrop food items for the people of the villages affected by landslides and damaged roads.
In a memorandum submitted to the chief minister Thangkhoset Haokip and Paotinthang Lupheng, presidents of the KIM and the KSO respectively appreciated the government's efforts to look after the affected people.
However they noted that in view of the wide spread damages of the roads and villages it is not possible to rush food items and other relief materials.
On the other hand, the people may face starvation deaths if left alone.
They have identified four villages worse affected where food and relief materials could be airdropped.
The villages are Sehlon, Motluah, Joupi and Sita.
Besides there are several villages where there could be helipads.
Since there are located near camps of security forces there could be no problems.
They also demanded the immediate repairings of the Tengnoupal New Somtal road, Tengnoupal Shangshak road, Chakpi Karong Joupi road.
