Meghen calls for crushing all threats

RK Sanayaima, former chairman of the proscribed UNLF, underscored the need for firm commitment by all indigenous communities to crush all forms of threats to Manipur, its integrity, and identity.
Sanayaima alias Meghen made the clarion call at the Phirep Louminnaba Numit' observed by Langthabal Kendra Clubs' Coordinating Committee (LKCCC) and Langthabal Kendra Meira Paibi Co-ordinating Committee (LKMCCC) held at Kakwa community hall, commemorating the day when current conflict unfolded in Churachandpur district on May 3 last year.
As the conflict completed one year, Sanayaima reflected on Manipur's civilisational history and the significant role played by the Meetei community in shaping the Manipur nation.
He characterised the armed aggression by Kuki militants as an assault on all indigenous communities, and emphasised the need for a collective stand to defend Manipur's integrity and identity.
Expressing concern over the uncertain future staring Manipur, Sanayaima called for the promotion of mutual respect, understanding, and brotherhood among all indigenous communities to strengthen Manipur while confronting various threats and challenges.
The event also called upon all communities to take a united stand to defend the integrity and identity of Manipur and promote the brotherhood of all indigenous communities; pressure the government to resolve the crisis in a just manner; identify and deport illegal immigrants and take stern action against narco-terrorists; and to provide constitutional safeguards to Meetei/Meitei community by including them in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) list under Article 342(1) of the Constitution of India.
The function was presided over by LKCCC president Yumnam Hitalar (Neta), while LK-MCCC president Moirangthem Ibemcha Leima, senior journalist A Mobi, and Hueiyen Lanpao editor Maibam Dhanabir attended as guests of honour.
