RIMS inaugurates Lumenis Pulse 120-Watt Holmium Laser machine

Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal director professor G Sunil Kumar Sharma inaugurated a Lumenis Pulse 120-Watt Holmium Laser machine on Friday at the Department of Urology in th presence of RIMS Hospital, Imphal medical superintendent professor N Sanjib Singh and Urology Department head professor Ak Kaku Singh.
In a release, RIMS PRO conveyed that the RIMS director while speaking at the inaugural programme stated that the machine is one of the top models available in the whole world and more advanced high-power laser machine with Moses Technology.
So far, around 15 numbers of installations have been done all over the country.
RIMS is the first one to get the machine installed in North East and 3rd installation in the East India, after AIIMS Patna and Command Hospital, Kolkata.
The machine has more efficient energy delivery mechanism, increased efficiency and comprehensive versatility of urology operations than other previous machines, he informed.
He also noted that the machine will be beneficial in removal of enlarged prostate tissue using laser beam and endoscopy which was blocking the urinary flow from the bladder in Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) patients.
It's really a boon for the prostate enlarged patients of our elderly population in the state.
It also has an advantage of urinary surgery and bladder tumour surgery.
Mentioning that the newly installed machine will improve patients care service, the RIMS director further emphasised that under the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare the institute is very much determined to deliver the best facility and best affordable treatment to our people and also in our neighbouring states.
The release also said that the programme was attended by the doctors, faculties, staff and students of RIMS, Imphal.
