CM Ibobi to visit Chandel soon: MLA Nunghlung

Chandel, July 11 2013: MLA of Chandel 41-AC St Nunghlung Victor has informed that Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh may soon visit Chandel to take stock of the actual developmental condition in the district and to have a firsthand account of lack of basic infrastructures and other facilities in the district for more than 10 years.

Speaking on the occasion of inaugurating an office of Naga Chiefs' Association, Chandel at the district headquarters here today, MLA Nunghlung Victor informed that he personally invited the Chief Minister for paying the visit and said that he has taken this initiative in view of the repeated statements given by the State Government on ensuring equal share of development to both the hill and the valley districts.

The proposed visit of the Chief Minister is essential, the MLA said, while appealing to all the people of Chandel to extend their support in making the visit a grand success.

The MLA pointed out that unlike other districts of the state, lack of developmental activities in Chandel district has turned from bad into worst during the last ten years.

In this regard, the MLA made special mention on the pathetic condition of road stretch from Pallel to Chakpikarong via the district head quarter, inordinate delay in completion of 50-bedded District Hospital, Sports Complex, repairing or construction of the administrative block of CMO Chandel Office which was damaged by storm in March 2011 and transfer of 27 lecturers from United College, etc.

The MLA informed that gathering that at his request made during the last Assembly session, the State authority would be taking a decision on transferring of the road work agency from BRO to the State Govt during a Cabinet meeting today.

He also called upon the State Govt to see that ADC members utilize the development fund allotted to them properly to avoid objection or opposition from the chiefs or the public.

Emphasizing on the role and mutual support of all CSOs in Chandel, MLA Nunghlung Victor went on to urge the NCAC to play a bigger role by strengthening the customary law and tradition.

General Secretary of CNPO BD Betha Anal, who also spoke on the occasion, appealed to all the Civil Society Organizations to work hand in hand for bringing development and prosperity in the district.

Advisor of the NCAC Gilbert Monsang also spoke on the occasion.

Chiefs of the surrounding villages and other distinguished guests and invitees attended the function moderated by NCAC Secretary Marim Chothe and President NCAC Ws Angthung as presidium member.
