L Joychandra honoured at Agartala event

The "Babure Taramani Memorial National Award 2024" presented by Manipuri Literary & Cultural Forum, Tripura was presented to scholar, writer and translator Longjam Joychandra Singh, on Wednesday.
The award presentation ceremony organised by the Tripura Forum at Tarou Meitei Leikai mandop, Agartala was attended by Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal director Bilash Pukhrambam and Forum president Ningombam Bira Singh as, chief guest and president respectively while Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi Manipuri Language Advisory Board member Ashangbam Netrajit (AC Netrajit) and Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Tripura president Langoljam Birmangal Singh were the guests of honour.
The award, sponsored by Khoisham Mangai and his better half Birola of Nalgaria, Agartala in memory their parent Khoisnam Mangai, is presented biennially to individuals, who are not Tripura denizens, in recognition of their achievement in the field of Manipuri art, culture, and literature.
Wednesday's event was the third presentation of the award, which includes cash prize of Rs 10,000, citation, and shawl.
Award recipient Joychandra, donated the cash prize to Takhel Leima Tengbang Lup of Tripura, the only women's organisation in the state.
Additionally, Bilash Pukhrambam and AC Netrajit were presented gifts by Takhel Leima Tengbang Lup.
During the event, artistes of the JN Manipur Dance Academy performed various cultural items.
