IPC conducts art, poetry competitions

Kanggui Christian College, Kangpokpi organised prize distribution programme for the Creative Expression on Art and Poetry Competition.
Organised by the India Peace Centre in collaboration with Kanggui Christian College and Saikul Area Theological Students' Union, the event provided a unique platform for children and teenagers from across the district region to explore the theme of "Confidence Building" .
The competition, held on December 1, was designed to offer a therapeutic outlet for young participants affected by the ongoing turmoil in Manipur.
It highlighted the transformative power of art and poetry in helping children process emotions and rebuild self-confidence.
Kanggui Christian College academic dean Soson, emphasised that art and poetry serve as powerful mediums for expressing emotions that words often fail to convey.
He described the initiative as a safe space for emotional release, psychological healing, and fostering resilience among the youth.
The competition for children aged 6 to 12 years was held under the theme "Strength in Unity" focusing on overcoming challenges together while those in the age group of 13 to 19 years competed on the themes "Hope and Healing" envisioning a peaceful future through aft, and "Confidence Building and Resilience" in the poetry category.
In the Art Competition for Category 1 (6-12 years), Mangchinlen Khongsai of Paomang Memorial Academy secured the first prize, followed by Lengunchung of Good Shepherd School in second place and K Thangneilen of Model English Higher Secondary School in third.
For Category 2 (13-19 years), the first prize was awarded to Hoineingah Kipgen of Presidency College, Motbung.
Lamkiphoi Kipgen of Christian English High School claimed second place, while Kimnunnem Haokip of Presidency College, Motbung, secured the third position.
In the Poetry Competition for 13-19 age group, Jolly Baite of Model English Higher Secondary School took the top honour.
Hoisangi Haokip of Presidency College, Motbung, was awarded second place, with Lamminhoi Haokip of Kangpokpi Ward No 16 finishing third.
To encourage and recognise the creative efforts of all participants, 10 consolation prizes were also presented in each category.
