Nursing freshers' welcome party held

Freshers' welcome party was celebrated in a colourful and entertaining manner in College of Nursing, RIMS, yesterday.
47 new students have been admitted this year from the NE region.
Students from the all India quota are expected in a few days.
Miss Singmei B Marak from Meghalaya was crowned Miss Fresher 2013 by Prof N.Damaynati, adviser to College of Nursing.
During self introduction Singmei sang songs in five different languages.
Jamuna, principal of College of Nursing exhorted the students to be loyal to their profession.
They will achieve their goals if they are dutiful and studious.
Prof Damayanti said that some of the students had missed seats in medical and dental selections by a whisker.
One nursing student was recently selected in the medical college, she disclosed.
Prof S.Sekharjit, Director of RIMS, said that the nursing students are lucky since there are three components of nursing, dental and medical on the same campus.
The M.Sc nursing course will be opened shortly.
Most of the students will be able to return to the college as faculties.
He also felt that the teachers could adopt the students so as to address all issues faced by the students.
Chief Accounts Officer, E.Debendra said that ragging had been banned in RIMS long time back.
The students are fortunate in the sense that there are best faculties available in the region in College of Nursing.
There are adequate libraries and other state of art teaching equipments.
Students coming from other parts of the country are happy that there is no social discrimination in Manipur.
Later there were entertainment programmes and many students showcased their talents in general and singing and dancing in particular.
