Student assault case: Zeliangrong bodies demand police action

In connection with alleged murder attempt, physical assault and other excessive inhuman treatment meted out to Ringsanbou Newmai, a BA 5th Semester student of Don Bosco college, Maram, Senapati District on July 28 last, leaders of Zeliangrong civil bodies today urged the Addl.
Director General of Police (Law & Order) L.M.Khaute to arrest the culprit.
Titus Kamei, President ZYF (AMN); Pamei Tingenlung, President AZSU(AMN); and Kadijanbou Pamei, Chairman ZSUM, during a meeting with ADGP Khaute today at around 1:30 pm at his office chamber, complained that the concerned police station has not taken up necessary action despite the FIR being registered against the accused Hingba Mathew, a warden of Josephine Girls Hostel, Maram under section 326/34/IPC. The ADGP, through telephonic conversation, instructed the SP Senapati District to arrest the culprit immediately, informed a joint press statement issued by the three bodies, while warning that, 'if no action is taken by the police in spite of the assurance made by ADGP, the Zeliangrong civil bodies shall take up appropriate step as per law of the land for the ends of justice.
