Search operations continue, IEDs recovered

A joint team of Kakching district police commando and 126 Battalion BSF conducted search operation in Sora Awang Leikai and Mayai Leikai area from 6.45 am till 8.10 am on Monday during which 56 houses were searched and 150 people verified.
However, there were no reports of any arrest made or seizure of weapons.
On the other hand, an area domination patrol party of Assam Rifles on Sunday recovered weapons including an IED suspected to have been cached by militants along the Indo-Myanmar border.
According to a police report, an AR team was conducting area domination patrol along Indo-Myanmar Border Pillar No 79 Govajang village and Border Pillar No 89 in Tengnoupal district around 7.15 am, when they spotted a suspicious looking sack.
On opening, the team found one local made carbine machine gun, one magazine, seven rounds of 9mm, two hand grenades, four IEDs and two 12V batteries.
The seized items have been handed over to Moreh PS for further legal action.
In another development, Tamenglong battalion Assam Rifles recovered arms and munitions during a search operation conducted in Noney district, on Monday.
The operation, aimed at neutralising armed militants from the region, was conducted in the forested areas of Mongjirong Khunou and Old Nungnang Khul in the district leading to recovery of a Carbine Machine Gun, Assault Rifles, Pistol, explosive materials, and substantial quantity of ammunition cached by armed individuals.
