Abemcha JAC formed, memo submitted to CM

Imphal, November 18 2023: Along with forming a JAC in connection with the death of Khwairakpam Ningol Leichombam Ongbi Abemcha Leima, who succumbed to bullet injury at RIMS hospital on Thursday, a public meeting held at Phayeng bazar adopted a number of resolutions which were subsequently submitted in the form of a memorandum to the chief minister.

Abemcha Leima was hit by a bullet fired by Kuki narco-terrorists on November 7 near Don Bosco School, Phayeng.

She underwent treatment at RIMS but succumbed on Thursday.

Her body is being kept at RIMS morgue.

The public meeting unanimously resolved to form JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Khwairakpam Ningol Leichinbam Ongbi Abemcha Leima by Kuki Narco-Terrorists with M Inaobi Meetei as convenor.

The representatives of the JAC met the chief minister on Saturday evening and submitted a 7-point memorandum.

During the meeting, the chief minister assured the JAC of fulfilling their demands following which the JAC decided to claim the body of Abemcha on Sunday for performing the last rites.

The resolutions adopted at the meeting earlier included - not to claim the body of Abemcha until an understanding is brought about between the JAC and the government; driving away the Kuki militants who are attacking Meitei villages in the periphery of Lamshang assembly constituency; eviction of Kuki immigrants who are encroaching/settling in Kangchup reserved forest, Kangchup Chiru reserved forest and those settling in the Darbar provided land areas of Meiteis in the periphery of Imphal West district within three days; cremation of the body at Kangchup hill (Kangchup Songlung); and providing adequate compensation the family of the deceased and a government job to the next of kin of the deceased.
