Protestors decry arrests, clash with cops

Imphal, November 27 2024:
Protesters clashed with police on Wednesday evening, demanding the unconditional release of individuals arrested in connection with vandalism at the house of Kakching MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar.
The arson act was committed during protest against the killing of six Women and children in Jiribamon November 11 .
A large group of people came to the residence of MLA Rameshwar at Makha Lou on Wednesday evening out of who some womenfolk were allowed access.
Since MLA Rameshwar was not at home, the protesters spoke with him over the phone.
After their conversation, the protesters left.
On their way back, the protestors spotted few police vehicles in Khongnang Mari Phangba area where the protestors clashed with the police.
The protesters pelted stones at the police, forcing them to retreat.
As the protesters attempted to storm the Kakching police station around 10 pm, police fired tear gas shells to disperse rhe mob.
In the ensuing clash, two VDF personnel and another person suffered injuries.
The VDF duo have been admitted at Email Hospital, Kakching, and the other individual at CHC Kakching.
