ACAUT lashes out at NSCN-KK

Dimapur, June 17 2014: Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) Nagaland is taking all the Naga underground groups head-on against the 'tax' and extortion issues in Nagaland.

As the campaign against the paying of money to the Naga underground organisations by the people gains momentum and becomes the state-wide phenomenon ACAUT has earned the wraths of certain Naga underground groups.

Today, ACAUT has lashes out at the NSCN-Khole/Kitovi group, Lotha Region for banning a first class contractor for failing to pay Rs 8.50 lakhs to the outfit.

ACAUT said the news reports on the banning of the contractor by the NSCN-Khole/Kitovi has caught the attention of the Naga people and in an almost delusional sort of way people were led to believe that the outfit had stepped in for the interest of the public and check corruption in developmental activities in the state.

ACAUT Nagaland said it is disgusted that the NSCN-Khole/Kitovi (Lotha Region) tried to play with the sentiments of the Naga people by whipping up the issue of poor quality workmanship.

If indeed the quality of the road is poor as alleged, then the issue is genuine and has to be tackled appropriately by all concerned including the right of intervention by the NPGs.

However, it becomes apparent from the sms sent to the contractor that the motive of the NSCN-Khole/Kitovi (Lotha Region) is to extract money from the contractor.

Trying to extract Rs.8.50 lakhs from the contractor simply because he has withdrawn Rs.1.70 crores for the work done is shameless.

That the NSCN-Khole/Kitovi (Lotha Region) could stoop so low is nothing but unscrupulousness and needless to say has tarnished the image of the NSCN-Khole/Kitovi.

The NSCN Khole/Kitovi is requested to disown the statement of its Lotha Region and issue a public apology.

"M/S Vilelie Khamo & Sons has taken the right decision not to make the payment and boldly go public with the sms threat.

Vilelie Khamo is a bonafide member of Nagaland First Class Government Contractors Union, a professional body which in its meeting held with ACAUT Nagaland had resolved to uphold the "One Government One Tax" resolution passed by the Naga people on October 31.Therefore, any threats and intimidations against Vilelie is condemnable and the ACAUT Nagaland fully supports the contractor on this issue," ACAUT stated.

It may be recalled here that on May 23, the NSCN led Isak Swu and Th Muivah had resolved to cease engagement of dialogue with the banned ACAUT with immediate effect.

The NSCN-IM said the house took serious note of ACAUT's directive on May 2, not to pay Naga peoples committed tax to the national cause including the house tax as it legitimised the people's movement.

The NSCN-IM said this exposed ACAUT's sinister design and lack of political maturity and clear antagonism against the sacred cause of the Nagas.

It can be noted here that the lobby against rampant imposition of underground tax on people as well as the numurous illegal tax by Nagaland Government has now become a state-wide movement.

Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) Nagaland is no longer just confine to Dimapur alone.

After re-christening as "ACAUT Nagaland" the leaders spearheading the movement are now travelling to every corner of Nagaland including colleges and other institutions as awareness campaign and also to garner support to the movement.

It can be mentioned here that ACAUT was formed early 2013 to check the rampant imposition of illegal tax on the people especially the business community by various organisations particularly the Naga underground outfits.
