3 writers from state named for Akademi awards

Three writers from the state have been honoured with the prestigious Sahitya Akademi's Yuva Puraskar and Bal Sahitya Puraskar.
The awards were given to two recipients in the Yuva Puraskar category and one in the Bal Sahitya Puraskar category.
Waikhom Chingkheinganba received the Yuva Puraskar for his poetry collection" Ashiba Turel," while Kshetrimayum Subadani was awarded the Bal Sahitya Puraskar for her novel "Malem Atiya," both in the Manipuri language.
Additionally, Suraj Chapagain won the Yuva Puraskar for his poetry collection "Canvas ko Xitiz" in Nepali language.
Kshetrimayum Subadani, a 65-year-old resident of Kwaikeithel Moirangpurel, Imphal West district, has an extensive literary portfolio, having written numerous books across various genres.
Her earlier accolades include the Dr Ambedkar Fellowship Award (2000, New Delhi), Chandrasakhi Laishram Chumthang Mana (2012), Toijam Bihari Ningsing Sahitya Mana (2013), Rabindranath Thakur National Award (2014), and Hijam Irabot National Award (2015), among others.
She currently serves as the president of Leikol, a literary organisation of women writers.
On the other hand, 35-year-old Waikhom Chihgkheinganba hails from Khabam Maning Leikai and works as a Hindi teacher at the National Sports Academy, Manipur.
He is the son of Waikhom Mahendra and Elangbam Pramo and holds a PhD from Manipur University.
Suraj Chapagain (33) hails from Kanglatongbi Tispari in Imphal West district, and is the son of Shivaraj Chapagain and Bishnu Maya.
The awardees of the Yuva Puraskar and Bal Sahitya Puraskar will each receive a casket containing an engraved copper plaque and a cheque for Rs 50,000, which would be presented in a forthcoming award ceremony.
