Imphal, May 03 2024:
Asserting that the recently notified revised results of the Pre-PhD admission entrance test for Manipuri Department in Manipur University have marked difference from the earlier results in terms of candidates' scores, Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) has demanded that latter result be declared null and void, and conduct the examination afresh.
Addressing media persons at its Khoyathong office, here, on Friday, KSA HRD secretary Toijam Ranakumar recounted that the entrance test for Pre-Phd in the Manipuri Department was conducted on April 29 last and the result declared the same day with 10 students declared eligible for viva voce.
However, on May 1, another notification issued by the competent authority cited "computer typographical error" and effected changes in the overall tabulation subsequently increasing the number of eligible candidates to 20, he said.
Contending that the latter notification exposed significant variations in the candidates' marks, clearly indicating that the exam was complete failure, the secretary insisted that the fresh result of the Pre-PhD entrance test should be invalidated.
While expressing that practice of favouritism rooted deeply in Manipur University could be comprehended from gross blunder and error in the Manipuri Department entrance test conducted for only 35 students, Ranakumar said as such issue cannot be overlooked, re-examination should be conducted with utmost integrity and transparency, free from any corrupt practices.
He also said that such inexcusable 'mistakes' have eroded public trust in the University and suggested that authorities concerned consider the same with all seriousness.
Maintaining that no teach -ers involved in the earlier entrance test should be involved/engaged for the re-examination, he said that any unwanted incident arising out of attempt to validate the newly declared result of the entrance test, shall be the sole responsibility of the MU authority.
