Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight underway in Senapati

The observance of Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight under the Senapati District Health Society is underway in Tadubi, Paomata and Purul of Senapati district.
A Steering Committee headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Senapati district has been organizing different programmes across the 3 blocks (Tadubi, Paomata and Purul) of Senapati District as part of observance of Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight from July 27 to August 8. Besides the Chief Medical Officer, District Immunization Officer and District Programme Officer (NRHM), the steering committee has members from ICDS Department, Education Department, PHE Division and Social Welfare Department in Senapati district.
Awareness campaigns with assistance of ASHA and Health Workers were organised from July 16 to 27 in the three blocks having a population of 29, 902 children between the age of 0-5 years.
According to sources, various departments enrolled into the Steering Committee have been taking active parts in the observance.
Demonstrations on hygienic hand wash done by the Education Department is expected to cover 50 schools, while the Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) undertook distribution of ORS and Zinc Tablet along with conducting a door to door campaign.
During the ongoing programme, the PHE Division in Senapati district provided safe drinking water to school students.
Moreover, 3 awareness rallies are scheduled to be taken out by students at Kangpokpi, Senapati and Mao during the fortnight.
As part of the observance, the Theatre Manipur also performed a street drama on awareness and importance of Zinc Tablet on August 6 at four different locations.
