Editors' Guild, Manipur (EGM) has strongly condemned the threat on Editor of Naharolgi Thoudang Khoirom Loyalakpa and appealed to all to respect the freedom of press.
According to a statement issued by EGM General Secretary, a meeting of the Editors' Guild was held at the residence of Editor of Naharolgi Thoudang Khoirom Loyalakpa Saturday and took stock of the situation under which Loyalakpa has come under threat from some unidentified gunmen in the past two weeks.
It is clear from the facts that the threat to the Editor is being made by some individuals and not by any armed group as suspected before.

Considering as an infringement on the "right to expression", members of the Editors' Guild Manipur also decided to appeal to the state Home department to provide personal security to Loyalakpa till the threat has been eliminated.
This is over the static guards being provided to him at his residence.
The EGM also met the IO of the case Victor and urged him to speed up the investigation and book the culprits as soon as possible so that media in Manipur and Editor Loyalakpa in particular can discharge their duties in a free and fearless environment, it said.
The Guild further appealed to the State Government and all concerned to respect the freedom of press and ensure a safe working environment for the journalists of the State.
