Imphal, July 24 2015 :
Passenger services and transportation of goods were severely affected by the State-wide steering-off stir staged by various transporters' bodies today.
It is said that some strike supporters were detained at City police station and Imphal police station for damaging vehicles during the stir.
However, they were released later, sources said.
The strike was carried out to extend solidarity to the ongoing pro-ILPS movement spearheaded by JCILPS demanding implementation of ILPS in the State.

All forms of passenger vehicles including inter-State and inter-district passenger vehicles remained off the road during the stir.
Parking areas in Imphal city wore a deserted look while some transporters' bodies staged sit-in-protests at their respective parking areas.
No goods laden and passenger vehicles from cities like Guwahati, Dimapur and Silchar arrived in the State capital while passenger services from sub-divisions like Moreh and Jiribam and district headquarters like Ukhrul, Churachandpur, Chandel and Tamenglong also remained suspended for the day.
Due to the stir, most of the vendors of three Ema markets and road side vendors did not turn up to sell their items/articles giving these areas a deserted look in the morning.
However, some vendors were seen selling their goods in the evening.
Members of All Manipur School Student's Transporters Association staged a sit-in-protest demanding ILPS at Tiddim ground community hall.
RIMS Auto Association in association with other associations also staged a similar sit-in-protest near RIMS gate.
Meanwhile, 44 auto rickshaw drivers were penalised Rs 200 each by Khabam Ahallup Route Owners and Drivers Association for carrying passengers during the stir.
