Imphal, August 20 2024: Some unidentified persons attacked the Principal of Kamakhya Pemton College, Hiyangthang by firing five rounds of shots at his residence at Nambol Lairenjam Awang Leikai.

The unidentified persons fired five rounds of shots at the residence of Kamakhya Pemton College Principal Dr Wahengbam Nimai at around 5 pm today.

According to the local club's advisor Khoisnam Anil, it was the second time unidentified persons attacked the residence of Dr Wahengbam Nimai.

On July 17, 2024, unidentified persons planted a bomb at the residence of the college Principal.

Two masked men who came on a two-wheeler fired five rounds of shots at the residence of Dr Nimai today too, Anil said.

Had the bullets which hit the door gone inside, the Principal's son who was reading then could have been killed, he said.

Saying that there are sick persons in Dr Nimai's family and the neighbourhood, he appealed to all concerned to refrain from such acts of intimidating civilians.

On learning about the attack, a team of Bishnupur commandos and a team of Nambol police station came and inspected the scene.

The police team recovered five spent bullets from near the gate of Dr Nimai.

Later, a case was registered at Nambol police station in connection with the incident.
