Sluggish start marks online LPG connection

Imphal, October 31 2015 : Even though the IOC launched e-SV/SAHAJ programme as a part of Digital India Plan at Delhi on May 1 this year which has been subsequently extended all over the country in phased manner since August 1, LPG consu-mers of the State seemed to have little idea of the new initiative.

The initiative is aimed at enabling people apply for new connection with online payment and issuance of e-SV.

However, one LPG consumer from Wangjing, Thou- bal district has raised a complaint against the new ini- tiative.

It is reported that due process for new LPG connection through online pay- ment has been already completed for the said individual.

The individual told The Sangai Express that his KYC form number which was submitted online was 500000048455389.It was dated September 16, 2015 and its waitlist number was 700000037813552 .

After taking a print-out of the registration number N15091723443912152548 which also had the name of the LPG distributor, the individual went to the particular LPG distributor in the hope that his LPG connection would be okayed.

At the office of the LPG distributor, the prospective consumer was told that no fresh connections were given and there were many prospective consumers in the wait list.

One staff told the individual to bring a written permission from the IOC or Rs 9000 if he must get a fresh connection.

The individual lamented from where he could obtain the IOC's written permission.

Since then, the individual has stopped pursuing his LPG connection.

One consumer of an LPG distributor located in Thoubal district has received three subsidized LPG refills this year.

He expressed keen desire for the concerned officials to check whether the subsidized LPG refills distributed to consumers is compatible with the number of refills issued by IOC within any particular period.

Speculating that one LPG distributor located in Thoubal district may have around 500 to 600 consumers, the consumer said that it was always notified that the stock position was 306 every time LPG refills are distributed by the distributor.

But most of the time, only around 160 refills were distributed and people standing in queue were told that the day's stock had run out.

If one takes into account the total number of consumers registered with the distributor, at least 250 consumers can be provided subsidized LPG refills on a day.

If 250 refills have been distributed on a single day, consumers registered with the distributor would have already received six refills this year, he added.
