The LS Ground, Wakan in Wakan village, Sadar Hills, which was developed by MLA Yamthong Haokip in the name of his brother late Letkhosei Haokip, was dedicated to the villagers during a simple ceremony held at Wakan village today.
While speaking on the occasion, MLA Yamthong Haokip said that a society needs to be built up by healthy people, and healthy people can be built up through sports which is in turn is one of the means to develop a society.
He explained that the playground has been developed in remembrance of his late brother Letkhosei Haokip, who did make his foray into politics to do something for the people.
So, he felt that dedicating the playground to the public in the name of his late brother would in some way or the other fulfil his unfulfilled desires.
The MLA noted that with a well-laid playground in place, the villagers of Wakan should try to produce more good players from the village.
