Imphal, May 28 2017:
Nungba
Youth Organisation has urged
the State Government to take up
necessary steps to improve the
condition of Nungba CHC.
Speaking to media persons
at Manipur Press Club today,
the organisation's spokesperson
Diachuipao said that
during an inspection by the
organisation on May 25, the
members found only one doctor
in the CHC which should
normally be staffed with
more than 10 doctors.
"It is disappointing to find
only one doctor in a CHC
when even a PHC usually
have seven to eight doctors",
he said and urged the Minister
and Department concerned
to take up necessary actions regarding the issue.
He further demanded the
authority concerned to provide
details regarding the
number of doctors sanctioned
for Nungba CHC.
The spokesperson stressed
on the need for a properly
functioning CHC , adequate
doctors and a blood bank for
Nungba due to the presence
of National Highway 37 and
the frequent accidents.
He said that the ultrasound
and the X ray machines of the
CHC were still lying unused
due to the lack of technicians
and further pointed out the
lack of proper operation theatre,
blood bank and trauma
centre and threatened to
launch intense agitation if the
authority concerned fails to
take up appropriate action.
On the other hand,
Diachuipao praised the Forest
and Environment Minister for
reviving the Nungba Forest
office which has been defunct
for more than 20 years.
